Tour Overview

The Maasai Mara National Reserve is one of Africa’s premier wildlife sanctuaries, located in southwestern Kenya along the Great Rift Valley in Narok County, adjacent to Tanzania's Serengeti National Park. Named in honor of the ancestral Maasai people—who described the region as "Mara" (meaning spotted) due to its landscape of acacia trees, savannah, and shifting cloud shadows—the reserve was originally established in 1961.

Drained by the vital Mara and Talek rivers, the reserve's open savannah grasslands and seasonal rivulets provide an ideal habitat for an abundance of wildlife. The Maasai Mara is world-renowned for the annual Great Migration, where millions of wildebeest and zebra brave crocodile-infested river crossings in a dramatic display of survival. Home to the legendary Big Five—elephants, leopards, lions, buffaloes, and rhinos—the Mara also holds one of the highest densities of black rhinos and apex predators in Africa.

Tour Schedule/Itinerary

• 06:30 AM: Pick-up and meet-and-greet at the Nairobi central departure point (Bazaar, Moi Avenue).
• Depart Nairobi and enjoy scenic views during a brief stopover at the Great Rift Valley Viewpoint.
• Journey onward through Narok town, arriving at camp in time for check-in and a fresh lunch.
• 04:00 PM – 06:30 PM: Embark on an evening game drive through the reserve in search of lions, elephants, leopards, buffaloes, and cheetahs.
• Return to camp for dinner, campfire relaxation, and overnight stay.

• 06:30 AM: Enjoy an early breakfast at camp.
• 07:00 AM: Depart for a full day of game viewing with packed picnic lunches.
• Explore key habitats across the reserve, tracking predator-prey dynamics, large herds, and birdlife.
• Break for a picnic lunch at a designated site near the iconic Mara River, watching for hippos and Nile crocodiles.
• Continue the afternoon game drive until 04:00 PM before returning to camp.
• Dinner and overnight stay at camp.

• 07:00 AM: Enjoy breakfast and complete camp check-out.
• Optional Activity: Visit an authentic local Maasai Village ($20 per person) to experience traditional music, dances, and homestead structures.
• Begin the scenic drive back to Nairobi, stopping for lunch en route.
• Arrive in Nairobi by approximately 04:00 PM – 05:00 PM for drop-off at the original pick-up location.
