Lake Baringo

Lake Baringo is a freshwater lake located in west-central Kenya, in the Great Rift Valley. It is the most northern Great Rift Valley lake after Lake Turkana.

The lake is fed by several rivers flowing from the Mau Hills and Tugen Hills: The Molo, Perkerra, and Ol Arabel, and has no outlet. The lake lies in a remote, hot, dusty area and hosts over 50 species of birds, including migrating flamingos. A goliath heron is found on a rocky islet known as Gibraltar.

Lake Baringo is home to seven freshwater fish species, Hippopotamus, Nile Crocodile, and other mammals. The lake contains several small islands, the largest being Ol Kokwe Island. There are also several hot springs and fumaroles in the area.
