Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi – Shaba National Reserve

Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up (typically 6:30 AM) from your Nairobi hotel, residence, or airport. Travel north through central Kenya, passing Nanyuki and Isiolo as the landscape transitions into the rugged northern frontier.

Arrive at Sarova Shaba Game Lodge in time for check-in and lunch. The lodge’s riverside setting allows for wildlife viewing directly from the property.

At around 3:30 PM, depart for your first afternoon game drive in Shaba National Reserve. Expect sightings of elephants, reticulated giraffes, Grevy’s zebra, Beisa oryx, and diverse birdlife adapted to the semi-arid ecosystem.

Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Shaba National Reserve

After breakfast, depart for a morning game drive when wildlife activity is at its peak. Shaba’s unique volcanic terrain and lower visitor numbers provide a more secluded safari experience compared to busier parks.

Return to the lodge for lunch and leisure time. Relax by the pool, enjoy the landscaped gardens, or take in river views from the public areas.

In the late afternoon, head out for another game drive exploring different sections of the reserve as animals gather near water sources.
